Copper Thieves Hard At Work
by Ron Penczak

During 2011, The Derry Police Department investigated more than 35 burglaries in which copper piping and wiring were specifically targeted. The majority of locations consisted of vacant homes that were either for sale, rent or were foreclosed on. Thieves used cutting instruments, to include saws and pipe cutters to remove the copper piping.

The metal is believed to be sold at metal recycling centers. Because copper is traded as a commodity and is driven by supply and demand it is currently bringing in high prices.

The Derry Police Department is aggressively pursuing all leads but they would appreciate help from anyone who may have information on the culprit or culprits who are responsible for these thefts.

Anyone with information contact Crimeline of Southern, NH at (800) 498-4040 or (603) 893-6600. Your call will remain ANONYMOUS, you won’t have to testify and you could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.00.

Vandalism in Derry
by Ron Penczak

The Derry Police Department is investigating several vehicles whose windows were smashed by vandals. These activities occurred on Old Chester Rd, Beaver Lake Ave and English Range Rd between 9:00pm on March 17 and 9:00am on March 19.
Due to the large geographical area covered, the suspects must be driving a vehicle to commit the crimes. It is believed that the culprits are using a baseball bat to smash the windows.
The vehicles that were damaged were not necessarily parked on the side of the road. The vandals were bold enough to leave their vehicle to bludgeon a car that is in a driveway further away from the road and closer to the resident’s home. These people are brazen and need to be stopped.
These crimes are strictly vandalisms, as no attempt to gain access to the car or steal from the cars has been made. These culprits are most likely looking for a thrill in damaging vehicles.
Anyone with information as to the suspects and vehicle used in the crime is to contact Crimeline of Southern NH at (603) 893-6600 or (800) 498-4040. December Recent Flim-Flam's
by Ron Penczak

Salem police haven’t given up on two Flim-Flam incidents that took place at the Sears store in the Mall at Rockingham Park and are hoping the public can help them solve these crimes. The first took place on June 1st and a Copy-Cat crime occurred September 21st and on both occasions the victims were notified at their place of employment that Sears had an inventory of Samsung televisions that they wanted to liquidate. The telephone contacts were made by a male.On June 1st the suspect, a male wearing a Sears badge met the victim outside of Sears where $1,700 in cash was exchanged for two televisions. The suspect told the victim to wait outside the pickup area where he would deliver the televisions. The receipt was proven to be fraudulent. On September 21st the victim agreed to meet at the Sears store around 2 PM. After arriving the victim by cell phone talked to a man named Teddy who said that an employee by the name of Shannon, who was wearing a Sears ID, would meet her outside the receiving door with a receipt for four televisions. The suspect took the $3,000 and said she was going to accounting to advise ‘Helen’ that the televisions were paid for. The victim then received another phone call from Teddy who told her to wait by her car with the trunk open and the sets would arrive in two minutes. After ten minutes the victim went inside Sears and learned that she was duped. Fortunately with the September 21st incident the victim was able to identify the female suspect from surveillance video. The suspect, having a slim build, was between 5’5”-5’7” with dirty blonde hair, that fell below her shoulder and who appeared to be in her mid to late twenties. She was wearing a pink V-neck sweater, blue jeans and black suede boots that came just below her knees.Salem police can’t say for sure the crimes are related but there are too many similarities that they can’t rule out that possibility. If any of these routine sounds familiar and if you have any information about either crime call Crimeline of Southern NH at 603-893-6600 or at 1-800-498-4040 or go online to www.crimelinesnh.com. Medicine Shoppe robbery in Salem

by Ron Penczak

The Medicine Shoppe at 15 Ermer Road has had it's share of crime this year. On October 24, an elderly woman crashed into the pharmacy that necessitated the pharmacy being boarded up. The following night, thieves smashed a rear window of the pharmay with a peice of concrete from the crash site. Police beleive that the crash provided the burglars with the belief that the alarms would be knocked out of service. They weren't. The police do have security tapes from the pharmacy and believe that they will help identify the two suspects who stole more than 900 pills of Vicodn and Hydrocodone, 330 pills of Lorazepam, 60 pills of Halcion and a small amount of Ritalin. The culprits mistakenly took large quantities of blood pressure and diabeties medication. They probably believed that they were a form of methadone since the drug names began with "meth" and "met."

This break-in is another crime that the Medicine Shoppe has experienced following the armed hold-up by two men wearing surgical masks this past January. Although police can't state that the two crimes are related, they are seeking information from the public to help solve both crimes.

He’s Still Out There!

by Ron Penczak

Salem Police would like your help. On April 27th, at approximately 12:15 P.M., a man followed a young woman through the Rockingham Park Mall’s J. C. Penny store and into the parking lot where he dropped his pants and masturbated next to her vehicle. Based on CCTV it was learned that this white or Hispanic, five-foot-nine to six foot male in his early to mid 20s, weighing between 160-190 pounds, wearing a red T-shirt, black Adidas pants and sneakers was accompanied by two white females, in their late teens or early 20’s. Both had their brown hair pulled back in buns. One was heavyset and possibly pregnant, wearing a pink shirt, jeans and carrying a white purse. The second female was of medium build and was the driver of a 1995 to 1999 Green or Black, possibly a Chrysler Cirrus four-door automobile, perhaps with Massachusetts plates. Both women were seen on CCTV shoplifting at the Hollister store.

What’s particularly disturbing is the man performed this indecent act during daylight hours. There is concern that this man’s action could escalate into something more repugnant and dangerous to women.

On Thursday, March 12, 2009 at around 7:30 PM a man tried to rob a 35 year old woman at the Bank of America ATM on South Broadway by holding a hypodermic needle to her neck. The woman told police that a man came up behind her and put his hands around her. He held a hypodermic needle to her neck and demanded money. He has a slim build and was wearing an olive colored sweatshirt, a grey hood over his head and blue jeans. Police said that the suspect was wearing gloves with black rubber grip dots.
